One of the prime areas within the garden is the sensory garden for those suffering from dementia. Currently, the site is under construction, however the perspective shows our hopes for this area. All the key senses have been taken into account, being:
Sight in the form of bright planting.
Sound from the grasses moving in the wind and water movement. The encouragement of wildlife into this area also aids sound.
Smell not only from the shrubs, but also from the carefully selected range of herbs grown for this client, to stimulate the memory.
Touch in the form of wooden sculptures and planting in the form of grasses and selected shrubs such as lambs ears that is both soft and delicate to feel.
Taste from the herbs planted, selected for use in cooking and salads.
The hard landscape features, such as pathways and seating, have all been selected to guide residents around the garden in a coordinated manner and covered seating protects residents from the glare of the sun.
