Nursing Homes - Peasmarsh, Guildford.

Set on the out skirts of Guildford, this impressive development required a garden to match. Whilst the garden is a secure garden for dementia suffers to use, its layout is based on a small stately appearance.

With sweeping pathways, lit at the edge for safe evening use, the garden has a large pergola with integrated seating, roses garden, garden club area, herbaceous borders and a water feature which is carefully lit at night.

This garden is very much aimed for evening use such as bar-be-ques, classical music and residents entertainment as well as a full range of day time activities.

Due to its location in an open area of land, mature and instant planting has been required throughout the gardens. A boundary hedge of 3m high 300mm deep Photinia 'Red Robin' has provided an instant screen to the garden, yet at the same time has not taken up much space. This has allowed for mixed borders of shrubs and herbaceous plants to be used to full effect.

Wooden and stone sculptures have been located along the wandering footpath and a glass pyramidal water feature provides interest and amusement to the garden. A selection of herbs within the raised beds has been contract grown for their unique properties in assisting the elderly suffering from memory loss.
